Activity Overview

Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge is a few miles away from Downtown Portland, it is a vast land encompassing forest, meadows, wetlands, scenic beauty and serenity. It features easy to hike walking trails that are used by many hikers. The bluff trail is open year-round for hiking, it is a beautiful and scenic trail where many species of birds reside. There is a biking path that seasoned and beginner bikers can explore. Nearby is Oaks park that is a century old amusement park that still fascinates. The wildlife refuge is open everyday and the parking lot closes at 10PM.

  • Explore a variety of birds, you can see blue herons, warblers, Kinglets, quails and other birds can be watched.
  • There are many types of native wildlife and plants in the refuge—there are cottonwoods, cedar, maple, and white alder trees.
  • The bicycling trail is spring water corridor, the trail takes you to the Portland Memorial Mausoleum.
  • Trail could be muddy in some parts, wear good walking shoes.
