Activity Overview
Folly Beach is one of the most beautiful and popular beachfronts which you can visit in South Carolina. It is the perfect place to lay out some towels and let your children build sand castles as you laze in the summer sun. If the combination of sea, sand and sun feels just a little bit lazy to you then you can walk out on the Beach's Pier, take a tour or do some shopping on nearby Center Street.
Things to Do
- A great expanse of clear white sand being struck by blue waves from the Atlantic Ocean the beach itself is the clear highlight of any visit here. If your here in the evening stick around for a spectacular sunset.
- At the Northeast end of the beach you can get a perfect view of the Morris Island Lighthouse. This Lighthouse was built in 1767 and now stands alone on the once inhabited island.
- The Edwin S. Taylor Folly Beach Fishing Pier is a lovely site for a walk. It is 24 feet wide and stretches 1,045 feet out into the Atlantic Ocean.
- This is also a great location for salt water fishing and bird watching. Musical events, fishing tournaments and more are held on the pier.

- If you make a trip to Folly Beach please respect the rules of the community and of its beaches.
- A useful tide chart is available or anyone interested in surfing or taking a boat out onto the water.
- Early in the morning is one of the best times to take a walk out onto the pier as you will have the place almost entirely to yourself. Keep an eye out for dolphins in the water!
