Butterfly Pavilion
Activity OverviewFounded in July 1995, as the first stand-alone non-profit invertebrate zoo in the nation, Butterfly Pavilion is a 30,000 square foot facility situated on 11-acres of beautiful Colorado land. Home to over 5,000 animals the Butterfly Pavilion as critters galore. From Rosie the tarantula to an entire underwater world this is truly a “zoo of small wonders and big experiences.” Things to See & DoWith ten different sections there is so much to see and explore. Take time to visit them all. Arachnids – include Black Widow spiders, Arizona stripe tail scorpion, giant vinegaroon and sugar city brown tarantulas. Crawl-a-see-em – home of Rosie the tarantula. Marine Invertebrates – include a variety of sea urchins and a bat sea star. Tropical Odyssey – A great family interactive area where you can spend time with a larger-than-life caterpillars and butterflies, as well as a suspension bridge and butterfly flight interactive that transport you to a rainforest canopy.
