Activity Overview

Alum Creek State Park is an over 4,600-acre state park in Delaware County, Ohio, which is a short drive north from the city of Columbus. It surrounds Alum Creek Lake, a reservoir of Alum Creek which was created in 1974. Throughout the year, the lake is used for water sports such as fishing, boating, swimming, ice fishing and ice boating. It also features hiking and mountain biking trails as well as the historic Sycamore Trail, which was used as an Underground Railroad route by slaves during the Civil War. No matter the season, the park is a great place to spend some time outdoors with your family.

Things to Do

• Go fishing at Alum Creek Lake - frequently caught fish species include bass, sunfish, catfish, crappie, bluegill, and walleye. You can even fish in the wintertime since ice fishing is allowed under the correct conditions!
• Relax under the summer sun with a visit to the park's lakeside beach - it's the largest inland beach in the entire state of Ohio! Activities include beach volleyball, swimming, and sunbathing.
• Explore the park on one of its many hiking trails - it's home to a diverse array of wildlife.
• Play a round of disc golf - the park has a free 18-hole course near the New Galena Launch Ramp. You can rent the necessary equipment if you don't have your own.

• Bring your dog along on your family outing - they'll love visiting Friends of Alum Creek Dog Park! The 4-acre dog park near the marina features fenced areas for small dogs, large dogs, and dogs that like to play in the water.
• Spend the entire weekend at the park by camping - the park has a few cabins for rental as well as over 280 campsites. Amenities vary depending on the site and include electric, sewer, and water hookups, heated shower facilities, playgrounds, horseshoe pits, and nature programs.
